Let's Talk about femme(slash)

Femmeslash and what it means to you in 20 words or less. Go!

Okay, not really. But we are curious. We want to know what you think! About the blog, sure, but more about femmeslash in general for the moment.

We want to know why you love it...or why you don't.

We want to know what pairing blows your skirt up.

We want to know what you want to see that you can't find. Who knows, maybe we can find it for you (we are a resourceful bunch). Or maybe your idea will be the inspiration someone else needs to write some. The possibilities are endless!

We've created a form with a few basic questions about femmeslash within the fandom. Nothing is required, but we'd love it if you'd share your thoughts.

There is no judgement whatsoever. If you say you don't like femme and you want to tell us why, that's fantastic. We aren't here to change anyone's mind, we just want to hear all the different views out there.

There is a free form space for you to tell us whatever you'd like to and a space for you to rec us something or pimp your own femmeslash fic.

We'd love it if you took a few moments to give us your thoughts!

Thanks and Hearts, The Femmes

Must give love to one of my favorite femmes, Lightstardust. She provided me with the pretty for this post and gives me pretty every day. <3

I like it romantic and devoted. I get uncertain if I feel it is written just for the sex, same as I feel with het fic and male slash. In general regarding slash, because there is so much hate against GLBT in this culture I hope for good fiction to create an opposing energy to the hate.

I'm in search of good femmeslash, though, admittedly, I've had a hard time finding any that was worth the read.

I'm not all unicorns and rainbows, plus, I'm not really into assigned gender roles. The whole butch/femme thing kinda annoys me. So, take those things into account, I'm left with very little. *Shrugs*

I don't read it (also rarely read/like poly). There are a few reasons for me. First, I guess I want to be attracted to at least someone in the pairing, otherwise its like watching robots go at it. Other than a few fandom girlcrushes, I heart men, so a fictional gay guy is ironically more appealing to me than a fictional gay woman that I'd fictionally have a chance with. Go figure. Second, the fandom. I really dislike most of the female Twi chars (Bella, Rose), or what the fandom has cliche'd them into (Alice, Tanya). So most F/F pairings are doomed from the start for me (along with Jacob/Anyone because I hate him too).

Two women being together is a very beautiful and hot thing to see. I like tasteful pictures...especially black and white. I too like the romance, but also when writing the lemon for it to be descriptive and slow (if that fits the mood). I do not read male slash, it just doesn't do anything for me. I would like to see different pairings...I have seen the usual Bella/Alice femmeslash and it would be nice to see someone change it up a bit. Also, the storyline must be right, a o/s that is mostly lemon is not bad if it fits. But as far as a full story i would like to see the romance/love side of it too.

I do read Femslash.. one of my favorites Fic are... my peeves in them are the same i have within the Male slash...

it bothers me when a carachter was straight his/her live, never have doubts, never look to someone in the same sex then BAM she/he is gay.

i also prefer when the sex scene is discribe using the fellings to when is to graphic...

I love venis_envy's boy slash <3. I gave femmeslash the ole college try, reading some of the more popular ones, but it doesn't move me. I find myself really missing the male presence when I read a girl/girl story.

I'll tell you... because we're being honest here... that I am not a huge fan of reading about oral sex on a lady. Regardless of who's doing it, man or woman. I don't know why, maybe I'm repressed? :)

My personal psychological issues notwithstanding, that aspect of femmeslash just turns me off. Write me a story with no oral and maybe I'll get into it. :)

I think your blog is quite beautiful, FYI. :)

@sadtomato- i would advocate that we don't judge ourselves for our preferences. what we feel is what we feel. it's a gift to oneself and to others to be genuine, without second-guessing.

Hmmm. Forgive me if this is redundant for anyone, but I will read just about anything in this fandom because I think it only expands the boundaries of creativity, not to mention takes me outside of the box I regrettably sometimes live in. Femme, when done well, is beautiful, not to mention it's male counterpart. I won't call out any authors in particular, but there are some who do it oh sooooo well, and they make me tingle with the breathtaking imagery.

I agree with miaukuancha that romantic, beautiful are key words, and not just the sex, unless the sex is a motivating factor of the story (ahem, trying not to refer her own work). I also agree with Cullenbanger and Aradi that femme, and even male, needs to expand the horizon a bit. With all of the new characters that BD offers us, I think it's soooo possible.

Oh, and in the interest of total disclosure, I must admit I tend to shy away from reading Jake and/or Renesmee. Perhaps I'm close-minded, or intolerant, but I guess I do have my boundaries. ;)

Great site, btw, chicas! Mwah!

So I was totally creepin' (do kids still say that? haha) all over the blog, and these comments alone have made me love you gals even more for starting this thing. Look at all the smart, open, honest, generous, funny women in the fandom! Off-topic (story of my life) but definitely worth taking up comment space for. I'm getting more and more psyched to write some femme/! Go you, actually go all of you, because you're all badass for being so super. <3

I have to agree with Ali here. This fandom and the people in it blow me away on the regular. I am blown away by some of the responses we received, both here and via the form. People being willing to tell us what works, what doesn't, what they love and hate...amazing.

You all rock my world, hard ;)

I really don't read slash or femme slash. (tho I wrote some, go figure) Slash fic usually ends up being devoted to being as explicit as possible without a story. I don't have a taste for PWP. Another comment above mentioned that they don't particularly like the Tw-ladies. I tend to agree there. Bella can grate on a nun's patience, Alice borders on preposterous, and Esme can be a doormat. Rosalie is, even when slightly more back-storied than Esme, he most likely candidate, but even then she does lack some dimension. This owes more to the scaffold we have to work with than anything else. Leah is a bit stereotyped, but less offensive than Bella in this regard.

I guess I just find most femme slash less beliveable, either because it has little appeal for me, or the story lacks the needed links to make it work for me. Too often, story takes 2nd place to the lemon content, which is tragic to me! (I need to read the other submissions for that teeny contest now!)

I enjoy femmeslash, but not Bella/Alice or Alice/Rosalie. Bella/Rosalie I may read, though. I don't like Alice very much...

I like the idea of Bella/Leah, but it's hard to find. I ended up writing my own Bella/Leah for that reason LOL. It was for a contest, and it contains lemons, so I guess it could be considered PWP. There is a bigger story though, and maybe I'll explore that further.

I have an issue with femmeslash where the characters aren't really lesbians. Straight girls trying out a fantasy, only to go back to boys afterwards, or doing it to please their boyfriend, that doesn't do it for me. It feels fake.

It's usually written by everyday people, with kids, spouses, responsibilities - who aren't writing for any other reason that to explore a side of their lives they don't get to in the regular world. To me it's like a voyeuristic peek into people's minds. People who think and desire the same things I do.

I think everyone has their own preferences, none of which you should have to justify or feel guilty for. I read everything (straight/bi/gay/group/bdsm), it's all in good fun. But I have a sweet spot for feminine looking girls with a tomboy side (if a guy is in the picture now and then, even better). And I relate to Rose/Emmett - so R/E/[girl] gets me every time. If the writing and the situation is right a drunken college tryst can be just as much fun as a romance story, light on the lemons.
A Proper College Education (sweetdulcinea) is a good time. There was another Rose/Emmett/Bella story where they were a poly couple and Rose ended up pregnant (can't for the life of me find the link, but I loved it).
Anyway, love the site, love the FF, love the fandom, and going to fill out the questionnaire :) Find me on twitter at @rsm36 ;)
